Justin and Ivette both spent decades inside pharmacy before Val Vista Pharmacy existed. Justin worked behind the counter, moved into operations, and saw how quickly patients could become numbers in a system that wasn’t really designed for them. Ivette spent seventeen years at a big-box pharmacy, learning every corner of how a large-scale pharmacy runs, what it does well, and what it's structurally incapable of doing.
They knew the problems firsthand because they'd lived them. A patient who needed a specific dose that no commercial manufacturer offered. A child who could not swallow a standard tablet. A provider with a carefully considered prescription that chain pharmacies could not fill. The system wasn't broken for everyone, but for a certain kind of patient, it wasn't built for them at all.
They knew what a better pharmacy could look like, and they had the experience to build one. When they started looking for the right place to invest, Ivette found a small pharmacy on Val Vista Drive and asked a simple question: why not this one? She saw the potential. Justin saw it too.
They renamed it Val Vista Pharmacy after the road it sits on, one of the only streets in the East Valley that runs north to south without ever changing its name. A legacy name for a pharmacy they intended to build into something that would last.
They rebuilt it from the ground up, with new equipment, a new philosophy, and a team that understood what they were trying to create.
Along the way, they made a decision that has stayed at the center of everything they do: growth should never come at the expense of the patient relationship. They know their patients' names, they know their providers' treatment philosophies, and they took the best of what they learned in corporate pharmacy and left behind everything that didn't serve patients well.
That's still the standard they hold themselves to every day.

Justin built Val Vista Pharmacy alongside Ivette because he wanted to practice pharmacy the way it was meant to be practiced: knowing the patient, understanding the full picture, and taking the time to get it right. He’s worked in both corporate and independent pharmacy and brought the best of both into Val Vista Pharmacy. Outside the pharmacy, Justin is a dedicated hockey girl dad and an enthusiastic supporter of Arizona youth sports.
Ivette spent seventeen years at a big box pharmacy before she and Justin decided to build something of their own. She is the operational backbone of Val Vista Pharmacy, the one who sees what needs to happen before it needs to happen. The idea to invest in and transform Val Vista Pharmacy was hers. Building it into what it is today has been a partnership. Outside the pharmacy, Ivette is a proud hockey mom who also enjoys literature and the art of perfumery.
Jinette joined Val Vista Pharmacy after completing an APPE rotation with the team and graduating from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in 2023. She reviews every prescription that comes through, making sure the formulation is right before compounding begins. Outside the pharmacy, you'll find her working on a 42,000-piece jigsaw puzzle, usually with her cat Waffles or bunnies Link and Princess nearby.
Kim is a licensed pharmacist and proud University of Arizona double Wildcat, with both her undergraduate and pharmacy degrees from Tucson. She has a genuine passion for compounding, drawn to the way it allows her to help patients whose needs don't fit a standard prescription. At Val Vista Pharmacy, she brings that same detail-oriented care to every patient she serves. Outside the pharmacy, her favorite title is "mom" to a toddler and a baby boy.
John brings 22 years of pharmacy management experience to Val Vista Pharmacy, along with certifications as a pharmacy technician, personal trainer, and nutritionist. Since joining in 2022, he's focused on making sure everything runs smoothly so patients get their prescriptions when they need them. A dedicated husband and father of two, he's also rarely found missing a day at the gym.
Rick is the first point of contact for many of the providers who partner with Val Vista Pharmacy. He builds relationships with practices across the East Valley and beyond, making sure providers know what VVP can do for their patients.
Our space was designed to reflect the kind of pharmacy we wanted to be. The tree in the lobby. The backlit supplement wall. A compounding lab built for precision. Every detail communicates something about how we approach our work.
Most of our patients across Arizona will receive their medications by delivery and may never walk through our door. We want them to see where their prescription comes from and the care and with intention that went into building our pharmacy space.
Being an independent pharmacy in the East Valley means something to us. The community we serve is also where our family lives, where our patients live, and where we've chosen to build something that matters to us.
