Probiotic organisms support gut health by adhering to intestinal epithelial cells, competing with unwanted organisms for attachment sites, producing short-chain fatty acids and other beneficial metabolites, and helping to restore healthy bacterial populations after disruption from illness, antibiotics, or dietary changes. The strains in UltraBiotic were specifically selected and tested for their ability to adhere to human epithelial cell lines and survive the harsh conditions of the digestive tract.*
Bifidobacterium lactis HN019® is one of the most studied probiotic strains for gastrointestinal function. In a dose-response study involving 100 adults, daily supplementation with B. lactis HN019® produced statistically significant decreases in whole-gut transit time at both high and low doses, with no effect seen in the placebo group. Participants also self-reported improvements in other parameters of healthy GI function.
