Val Vista Pharmacy Vitamin C delivers high-potency ascorbate in a buffered mineral form that’s gentle on the stomach, with 7.5 mg of BioPerine® black pepper extract per capsule to support absorption and bioavailability.*
We carry Xymogen's Vitamin C specifically for its buffered, well-tolerated form that minimizes GI upset at higher doses. Whether for immune support, collagen synthesis, or antioxidant defense, patients need a product they can actually take consistently — and the quality of sourcing and excipients here reflects the standard we hold for every product we recommend.
"Vitamin C sounds straightforward, but most patients stop taking it because high doses upset their stomach. This buffered formulation eliminates that problem — so patients can actually stick with it long enough to see the benefits. A supplement only works if you take it, and this one makes that easy." – Staff Pharmacist
Serving Size: 2 Capsules | Servings Per Container: 60
Capsule (hypromellose and water), stearic acid, and ascorbyl palmitate.
Take 2 capsules twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare professional. Taking vitamin C with food is generally well-tolerated and may reduce any digestive sensitivity that occasionally occurs with high-dose supplementation. The buffered ascorbate form in this formula is already gentler than plain ascorbic acid, but food helps further.
This formula delivers 750 mg of vitamin C per capsule and 1,500 mg per 2-capsule serving. The full daily dose at 2 capsules twice daily is 3,000 mg. Some people begin at 1 capsule twice daily and increase from there based on individual tolerance. Vitamin C is water-soluble and excess is excreted rather than stored, but very high doses can cause loose stools in some individuals, which is a useful guide to personal tolerance. Consult your healthcare professional before use. Individuals taking medication should discuss potential interactions with their healthcare professional. High-dose vitamin C may interact with certain medications, including blood thinners and some chemotherapy agents. Do not use if the tamper seal is damaged.
Vitamin C has one of the longest research histories of any nutrient supplement. Here’s where the evidence is most established.
Vitamin C has been studied for over six decades for its role in supporting the immune system during acute challenges. A subgroup analysis across three meta-analyses found that vitamin C reduced signs of acute immune challenge by an average of 50% in individuals under extreme physical stress, including marathon runners, skiers, and soldiers exposed to cold. Benefits were most notable under conditions of high physical demand. Vitamin C also plays a direct role in immune cell function, including supporting the activity of leukocytes, which concentrate it at levels far higher than plasma.*
Ascorbate, the form of vitamin C in this formula, is a highly effective electron donor that directly neutralizes oxidative free radicals. It’s also capable of regenerating other antioxidants, including vitamin E and glutathione, extending their protective capacity. Vitamin C’s antioxidant function is particularly relevant in the context of exposure to toxins, pollutants, and other factors that increase oxidative burden, which is reflected in the higher vitamin C requirements recognized for smokers and individuals under significant environmental or physical stress.*
Vitamin C is required for the hydroxylation steps in collagen synthesis, making it essential for the structural integrity of skin, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, and bone. Its role in collagen formation and wound healing has been recognized in clinical literature since the 1930s. Adequate vitamin C intake is particularly relevant for skin health, joint integrity, capillary strength, and recovery from tissue damage.*
Carnitine synthesis depends on vitamin C. Carnitine is responsible for transporting fatty acids into mitochondria for energy production, so vitamin C’s role in carnitine synthesis connects it directly to cellular energy metabolism. Vitamin C is also required for the conversion of dopamine to norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter involved in healthy mood and cognitive function, and participates in the synthesis of several other hormones and neurotransmitters.*
Plain ascorbic acid at high doses is acidic and can cause GI discomfort, particularly on an empty stomach. Buffering vitamin C with calcium, magnesium, and potassium ascorbates neutralizes that acidity while preserving the full potency. The addition of BioPerine®, a patented black pepper extract, is supported by research showing it significantly enhances the absorption of nutrients it’s taken with. At 7.5 mg per capsule, you’re getting a meaningful dose of piperine without overpowering the formula.*
When you buy a supplement from Val Vista Pharmacy, you’re buying from a licensed, practicing pharmacy, not a marketplace, not a fulfillment warehouse. That distinction matters for a few reasons.
Every supplement we carry has been evaluated by our pharmacists for ingredient quality, formulation rationale, and manufacturer standards. Val Vista Pharmacy Vitamin C uses buffered mineral ascorbates and BioPerine®, a patented ingredient backed by published research, and meets or exceeds current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) quality standards.
